Avalon Skatepark

It's actually more of a bike park than a skate park, built by a bikeshop for bikers. Most of the local skateparks don't allow bikes. Apparently they think bikes and boards don't mix. I guess the thought of a 30 lb metal missle is a little more scary than a loose skateboard. Anyway this place welcomes everybody, even first time bikepark newbs like Brian and I. It's in an old dilapidated warehouse out back of the Avalon bikeshop and is very reminiscent of the old ghetto skate park that I grew up skating back in the eighties - minus the rotting vegetables outside on the loading docks. The ramps are tight. 2 6 foot halfpipes with a spine and a 4 foot half pipe with bowl corners and a hip into another 4 foot halfpipe. Fun stuff. We stuck mostly to the bowl area. There were some awesome riders there riding everything, unfortunately, it's really dark and the photos I tried to take just didn't turn out.
